5 Valentine’s Decorations to Last All Year

If you’ve still got your Christmas tree up don’t feel bad. While some people might go crazy getting ready for the next holiday, Valentine’s Day, some of us aren’t so on top of things. If you want to add some Valentine’s Day décor into your home that won’t feel out of place after February 14th, then check out some of these ideas from some seriously creative bloggers.

You’ve got old sweaters hiding in the back of your closet, why not turn them into pillow covers? If you don’t, visit your local thrift store and pick up a few and then wash really well. You can cover a pillow you’ve already got or pick up a new one. Even if you think you’re terrible with a sewing machine, you can handle this! Bonus project – use the sweaters sleeves to make mittens!

Did you grab some post-Christmas clearance ornaments? Bring them out to complete this project! It’s a really cute idea for a family or entertainment room and is great year-round decoration.

While this example displays the word love, you could put any sentiment on the board. Make sure to measure your letters and the space available before you start applying – there’s nothing worse than ending up short one letter! Once completed add a wire to the back to hang on the wall or, depending on how big you make the sign, lean it up against a space in your room.

Can you have too many photo holders? No, I didn’t think so. Imagine how cute this would look if you have a non-functioning fire place. Make several of them, attach images, and arrange in the fireplace cavity. Add some LED lights or candles below to illuminate. An instant, year round tribute to love!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
