Are you still struggling to find a gift for that person who has everything? Have you considered making a gift in a jar? You can come up with something to match every interest and taste! If it fits in a jar, you can use it to create a gift in a jar.

Do you have a special cookie recipe? Instead of baking the cookies, place the dry ingredients in a jar and then add a tag with the directions for making the cookies. This saves you time now, plus it means the recipient can enjoy the gift later when all of the holiday sweets have disappeared.

You can also fill jars with trail mix, granola, soup mix, hot cocoa mix, homemade spice mixes, homemade sugar scrubs, homemade body lotion, homemade playdough, finger paints, flavored tea, homemade jams, and flavored butters. Below I have rounded up 15+ Gift in a Jar Ideas – some of them even come with printable labels for you to use when you create your gift in a jar.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
