We are at the end of the alphabet, everyone! Letter Z week is here and I have found a bunch of fun ways to teach the letter Z to your kids that you are going to love! When we think of the letter Z, of course the typical animal who is practically the mascot of the letter, the zebra. There are some zebra activities here, but I tried to find others as well so you can create the perfect curriculum for your little ones. Here are some fun ways to introduce the letter Z at home.

10+ Ways to Introduce the Letter Z

Crafts:

Make these Zig Zag tracks for cars from Brilliant Beginnings Preschool and not only have fun making it, but also working on fine motor skills.

Here’s a simple Letter Z Zebra Craft from Crystal & Co.

Printables:

For practice writing the letter Z, print off this handy Practice Printing the letter Z printable from Kids’s Learning Station.

This combination color, trace and identify printable from KB Teachers is a good one to do several different activities on.

Activities:

Take a trip to the zoo. It doesn’t have to be a major one, either. If you have a local one that is small, this might even be better on your wallet and for lessons, too.

Try a letter Z Scavenger hunt. Place items like a zipper, zucchini, zebra (plastic toy) or number Zero in a room and have your child find them. This idea comes from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

Books:

Get Ready, Eddie! (Features Zippers) by Nat Gabriel

Put Me in the Zoo by Robert Lopshire

Zoomer by Ned Young

50 Below Zero by Robert Munsch

Recipes:

Make this Lemony Raspberry Zucchini Bread from I am a Honey Bee. Kids of this age love helping with mixing, stirring and pouring.

Munchie Mom has a fast Zoo Snack that you can make for your kids in a flash.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
